TCA Technologies designed and built a turnkey automated continuous strip electroplating production line for a customer requiring a reliable, production-ready process for applying a controlled metallic deposit to raw strip material used in subsequent manufacturing operations. The system was engineered to support consistent electroplating results while maintaining operator safety, process control, careful strip handling, and traceable production data.
The project encompassed process layout development, equipment concepting, detailed mechanical design, in-house manufacturing, automation controls, strip handling, fluid handling, and system validation. TCA has delivered multiple continuous strip electroplating line configurations for similar production requirements, including a recent prototype line developed to expand process capability while protecting customer-specific chemistry and product details.
Highlights
System Description
Raw strip material is fed through dedicated strip handling, guidance, contact, and tension-control features designed to maintain consistent orientation, electrical engagement, and process exposure while minimizing the risk of scratches, dings, burrs, edge damage, or other handling-related defects. The production line operates automatically during normal processing, with operator-assisted coil or material changeover, bath maintenance, and selected production support activities.
Strip material is conveyed continuously through a sequence of process tanks for cleaning, activation, plating, rinsing, and related process steps. The system integrates controlled agitation, temperature management, rectifier control, line-speed control, dwell timing, and solution-level monitoring to maintain stable process conditions during production.
Custom-engineered strip contact assemblies, guides, rollers, and transfer mechanisms ensure repeatable electrical engagement and controlled exposure through each process zone. Process recipes can be configured to support different strip formats, deposit targets, line speeds, and operating parameters while maintaining consistent quality.
Following processing, production data and recipe parameters can be logged to the customer's data collection or MES system, enabling traceability, quality review, and continuous improvement.
